Pioneers Set For Busy Week of Racing; DU Invite on Feb. 8-9

Alpine racing in Montana and Utah before the Denver Invitational concludes in Minturn

DENVER – The University of Denver ski team gets set for one of its busiest weeks of the 2025 collegiate season with seven races across seven days, including both alpine and Nordic events over the weekend.

Three meets are set to conclude this week, with the alpine squad wrapping up both the Montana State Invitational and Utah Invitational and Nordic completing the Denver Invitational, presented by Daehlie. The DU Invite is set for Saturday and Sunday morning at Maloit Park in Minturn, Colorado, with the men's and women's 7.5K classical interval start scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 and the men's 10K freestyle on Sunday, Feb. 9.

The general public is invited to travel to the Vail Valley to watch the Pioneers and the other cross country athletes at the Denver Invitational, as parking is free at and around the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy. It is then a short walk up to the Nordic venue to watch all of the action.

Denver and the rest of the RMISA squads start the week by racing at Bridger Bowl Ski Area in Bozeman for the MSU Invite—which was the latest meet to begin on Jan. 24-26 and will be the first to finish in its entirety. Alpine giant slalom is Monday while slalom races are on Tuesday.

The alpine skiers head south to Park City and Utah Olympic Park at the end of the week, beginning with the final individual alpine qualifier of the season—a giant slalom on Friday. The GS starts the alpine events of the Utah Invitational on Saturday before slalom closes up the meet on Sunday, with both events occurring at the same time as the cross country races in Colorado.

Denver is within striking distance of winning any of the three meets, as the Pioneers are just 42 points back from the lead in the MSU Invite and are 57.5 behind first place in the Utah Invite following balanced second-place performances by their Nordic team. In its own meet, DU is third place and is 88.5 points off the lead following the alpine races at Loveland Ski Area on Jan. 7-8.

Live alpine results will be available on https://live-timing.com while Nordic results will be updated on the schedule page of DenverPioneers.com/Skiing. Race times will also be posted on the schedule page when they become available.

After this week, all of the squads get set to travel to Alaska to close out the regular season with the Nordic-only UAF Nanook Invitational on Feb. 16-17, the Alaska Anchorage Invitational alpine events on Feb. 19-21 and the RMISA Championship on Feb. 20-22.
