David Carle has released the following statement on sophomore defenseman
Boston Buckberger's status for the remainder of the postseason.
"
Boston Buckberger had a successful operation in St. Paul over the weekend and will miss the remainder of the season with an upper-body injury. He is doing well in his recovery and is expected to be ready for offseason training and the start of the 2025-26 campaign."
Buckberger was hurt in the first overtime period on Saturday night in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship Game against Western Michigan.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native is in his second season with the Pioneers after helping the team win its NCAA-record 10th national title as a freshman in 2023-24. He has recorded career highs this year with nine goals and 30 points while playing in each of the previous 41 games.
No. 3-seed Denver begins the NCAA Tournament on Friday against No. 2-seed Providence in the Regional Semifinals in Manchester, New Hampshire.
