DENVER – The Denver Pioneers hockey team is ranked No. 7 nationally in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey/The Rink Live polls that were both released on Monday.
The Pioneers split their weekend series with St. Cloud State last weekend, winning 3-1 on Friday before losing 2-1 on Saturday. DU dropped one spot in the polls from No. 6, a position it held in the USCHO.com rankings for five straight weeks.
Boston College remained as the top-ranked team in the country and was the unanimous choice in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live poll. Michigan State returned to No. 2 while Minnesota dropped to No. 3 and Western Michigan climbed back to No. 4—each of teams also received one first-place vote on the USCHO.com list. Maine stayed at No. 5 while Providence moved past Denver to No. 6 in each poll.
The Pioneers are presently at No. 10 in the Pairwise computer rankings that determine the NCAA Tournament field.
The NCHC is tied with the second-most teams ranked in the USCHO.com poll with five and has four teams in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live list. After Western Michigan at No. 3/3 and DU at No. 7/7 is Arizona State at No. 12/13, North Dakota at No. 18/18 and Colorado College at No. 20/RV. Omaha also received votes in each poll.
UP NEXT: Denver wraps up the 2024-25 regular season with a home-and-home series against No. 20 Colorado College. The teams begin the set on Friday at 7 p.m. MT at Magness Arena before this year's Gold Pan series concludes on Saturday at 6 p.m. Mt at Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs.
