NEW YORK – The University of Denver men's lacrosse program had five student-athletes earn All-BIG EAST awards, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Denver finished with a conference-high four student-athletes on the first team.
DU had three unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selections in
Jimmy Freehill, Mic Kelly and
Casey Wilson. Attackman
Noah Manning joined the unanimous trio on the first team. Redshirt sophomore
Cody Malawsky was voted to the All-BIG EAST Second Team that was also announced on Wednesday.
Freehill earned his third all-conference award, and his second first-team selection in 2025. The Denver captain played and started in all 14 games, drawing the opponents top attackman assignment throughout the season. Freehill forced 16 turnovers and picked up 27 ground balls for the Pios defense. The Newton, Massachusetts, native finished his Denver career with 92 ground balls and 48 caused turnovers.
Kelly also played and started in all 14 contests for the Pios en-route to his first All-BIG EAST honor. The Towson, Maryland, native scored a career-high 27 goals and added eight assists for a career-best 35 points. Kelly finished just six points shy of joining the 100-point club from the Denver midfield. The DU first-line middie scored five times on the man-up this season, and finished with four hat tricks, including a hatty in Denver's 13-6 win over No. 7 Duke in Dallas on March 22.
Wilson earned his second all-conference honor and his first All-BIG EAST First Team recognition. In 13 games before suffering a season-ending injury, Wilson picked up 26 ground balls and forced eight turnovers. Wilson picked-up a career-high seven ground balls in the Pios 14-7 win at St. John's on April 5. The Victoria, British Columbia, native also chipped in three goals and five assists in transition. In his career, Wilson had 109 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers, 14 goals and 12 assists.
Manning joined Denver's 100-point club this season, scoring 31 times and adding 12 assists in his senior season for 43 points. The all-conference honor in 2025 was the first of his career. Manning netted six hat tricks, including a sock trick in Denver's 13-6 win over No. 7 Duke in Dallas on March 22 and a four-goal afternoon in a 7-3 win at No. 13 Georgetown on April 12. The fellow Victoria finished his career with 122 points on 83 goals and 39 assists, scoring 14 of his goals on the man-up.
Malawsky played in 12 of Denver's 14 games in his first conference-award-winning season. The redshirt-sophomore finished with 18 goals and 14 assists out of Denver's starting attack, for 32 points. Malawsky finished with three hat tricks, including two in conference games. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia, product had five goals and two assists, including a man-up goal and the game-winner in the Pios 10-8 win over Utah on February 15.
