DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball program has signed redshirt senior guard Julius Rollins for the 2025-26 roster, first-year head coach Tim Bergstraser announced on Friday. Rollins spent the 2024-25 season at former Summit League member Western Illinois after three seasons at Kent State.
"Julius is the definition of a junkyard dog competitor," Bergstraser said. "He has a relentless competitive side to him and it'll fit in perfectly with how we do things. "Juju" is a long, high major athlete with a ton of skill to score in creative ways. His toughness and defensive mindset make him a perfect piece to add to this program."
Rollins played in all 31 games last season for the Leathernecks, making 27 starts. He averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Rollins finished in double figures 16 times, including a 20-point game on December 6. The new Denver guard had a stretch of six-straight games in double figures from November 21 to December 14 that included games at South Alabama and at South Dakota.
The Chicago, Illinois, native played in 30 games and averaged 13.6 minutes per contest in his redshirt-sophomore season at Kent State in 2023-24 that included a 13-point night in Kent State's visit to Toledo. Rollins also made 28 appearances in the 2022-23 campaign, highlighted by a 13-point night against Eastern Michigan that capped off back-to-back games in double figures for the redshirt freshman. In his second overall season with the program in 2022-23, the Golden Flashes won the MAC Tournament title and made a trip to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Rollins made an appearance in the first-round date with Indiana.
Rollins is the sixth new Pioneer to join the roster since Bergstraser took over as head coach last month, joining an MSUM quartet of transfers in Corleone Dandridge, Shaun Wysocki, Carson Johnson and Logan Kinsey, and Missouri Western State transfer Zane Nelson, who were announced earlier this month.
