GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team fell to the Stanford Cardinal, 10-4, on Friday night in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Gainesville, Florida.

Lauren Black recorded a pair of goals in the first quarter alongside a third by Eva Thomsen-Marr to give Denver a 3-2 advantage after 15 minutes.

Caroline Bowers recorded the fourth goal for the Pioneers at 7:39 in the second quarter.

Stanford held the Pioneers scoreless in the second half to claim the 10-4 victory.
 
KEY PERFORMANCES:

• Maddie Montgomery recorded a trio of caused turnovers while Sarah Pokorny added a pair. Megan Klingenberg grabbed three ground balls and Olivia Ripple, Landry Grover and Pokorny had two apiece.
• Pokorny led the draw with four wins in the circle while Raegan Wilson and Alex Dorr each had a pair.
• Emelia Bohi made six saves between the pipes and Lexi Gwaku added a pair.
