DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball program has signed South Plains College and Triton College transfer Didier Maleng to its 2025-26 roster, first-year head coach Tim Bergstraser announced on Thursday.
"Didier is going to be an amazing presence for us as a forward," Bergstraser said. "He has great mobility for his size with a defensive mindset. Didier is a DU guy as a player and person top to bottom. He's going to fit in perfectly with how hard he plays. He has an incredibly high ceiling and we are eager to get to work with him."
Maleng played in 36 games a year ago at South Plains College, scoring 4.2 points and pulling down 3.8 rebounds in his 12.6 minutes per contest. The Lawton, Oklahoma, product finished in double figures twice last season.
In his freshman campaign in 2022-23, Maleng played in 29 games for Triton College, averaging 5.9 points and 5.7 rebounds in 19 minutes per game. Maleng finished in double figures six times, including a season-high 23 on February 7, 2023.
Maleng led his high school team to back-to-back state titles prior to the start of his college career.
The new Denver junior is the ninth new Pioneer to join the roster since Bergstraser took over as head coach in April, joining an MSUM quartet of transfers in Corleone Dandridge, Shaun Wysocki, Carson Johnson and Logan Kinsey, Missouri Western State transfer Zane Nelson, former Western Illinois and Kent State guard Julius Rollins, Pima CC center Gabe Oldham and Jeremiah Burke who signed earlier this offseason.
