DENVER – The University of Denver hockey program had nine players named National All-American Scholars from the American Hockey Coaches Association for the 2024-25 campaign.

Matt Davis, Jack Devine and
Carter King, junior
Kent Anderson, sophomores
Boston Buckberger and
Sam Harris, and freshmen
James Reeder and
Tory Pitner were the Pioneers that were recognized by the AHCA for their excellence in the classroom. Overall, 56 players from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference were honored, with the DU's nine honorees being the second-most in the league.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained at least a 3.75 grade-point average for each semester or quarter and appear in 40 percent of the team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and backup goaltenders.
Both Davis and King earned All-American Scholar awards in all four seasons, while Anderson was named to the list for the third time. Buckberger, the 2025 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner from the Frozen Four, picked up his second-straight national scholar award, while grad student Caponi and sophomore Harris joined the rookie duo of Pitner and Reeder as first-time winners.
Each of those nine players were also named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and were awarded as NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes.
Additionally, Anderson, Buckberger, Davis and Devine were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, with Davis also earning Second-Team Academic All-American honors and Devine picking up third-team accolades from the CSC. Davis was also selected as the NCHC's Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner for 2024-25, and Reeder was recognized as a DU Athletics' Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner for having the highest grade-point average in the school's freshmen class.
Overall, 709 NCAA Division I men's (360) and women's (349) players were recognized as AHCA All-Academic Scholars for 2024-25.
