USAFA, Colo. – The University of Denver women's tennis team collected 12 more wins on the middle day of play at the Bedford Cup in the Mountains, hosted by the Air Force Academy, on Saturday.
 
Denver played in a total of 10 doubles matches and came away with wins in all but two, highlighted by Zoe Adkins/Ruby Hansen advancing to the Red Draw title match with wins in their main-draw quarterfinal and semifinal contests.
 
In the Blue Draw, No. 71-ranked Claudia Martinez de Velasco/Louise Wikander got back on track with two victories in the back draw and are tentatively scheduled match up with fellow Pioneers Yunfei Cai/Marley Lambert in the consolation final on Sunday after they, too, captured two wins on Saturday.
 
Natali Jaiani/Remy Nguyen finished undefeated in the Green Draw round robin, adding two more wins on Day 2.
 
In singles, Cai fell in the main-draw semifinals of the Charley Draw but will play for third place on Sunday. Four of the Pioneers' singles matches saw the student-athletes split the first two sets and end up in 10-point match tiebreaks. Adkins came away with the win in her match tiebreak, 10-8, while Hansen, Martinez de Velasco and Wikander each came up short.
 
Joining Adkins in the singles win column on the day were Hana Bečirovič Novak, Natálie Cinková and Nguyen, each doing so in straight sets.
 
The Bedford Cup concludes on Sunday with the singles and doubles finals. Matches are set to begin at 9:45 a.m. MT.
