USAFA, Colo. – The University of Denver men's tennis team opened up its 2025 fall campaign with a successful first day at the Bedford Cup, hosted by the Air Force Academy, on Friday with all four Pioneers in attendance notching at least one win on the day.
 
Though the day featured two rounds of doubles, Denver's teams only played once after each received a bye through to the round of 16. Both teams notched wins, starting with Theo Coats/ and Connor Robb-Wilcox who teamed up for just the fifth time and the first since last November. The all-freshman duo of Aaron Beduhn and Tom Noltorp also made a successful debut in their first collegiate match.
 
In singles, Coats led the way with just two games dropped on his way to the top-draw quarterfinals. Noltorp, too, will play in the quarterfinals of his respective draw following a straight-sets win in his first collegiate singles match.
 
Though he was the only Pioneer to play twice in singles on Friday, Beduhn also moved into the quarterfinals on his draw after starting the day with a battle back from a set down in his debut match and sealing the win in a third-set tiebreak. He followed it up with a routine straight-sets win in the round of 16.
 
The Bedford Cup continues on Saturday with the quarterfinals and semifinals for both singles and doubles with play beginning at 9 a.m. MT.
