DENVER – The University of Denver volleyball team swept Idaho State (25-16, 25-17, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton Gymnasium to close out the Denver Invitational.
Genevieve Lewis paced the Pioneers offense with 15 kills while
Ava Reynolds added 13 and
Jamia Johnson tacked on 10. On the defensive end,
Alicia Thibodeau made 12 digs,
Maddie Winkler added 9 and
Alayna Finucan added 8.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Denver and Idaho State battled back and forth to start the match. The Pioneer pulled ahead at the end of the stanza to earn a 25-16 first set victory.
SET 2
The Pioneers and the Bengals traded blows in set two before Denver took the lead at 9-7. DU extended its lead to 15-10, led by
Genevieve Lewis with 10 kills at the halfway point. The Pioneer offense recorded 17 kills and a .429 hitting percentage en route to a 25-17 victory.
SET 3
DU took an early 5-2 lead to start the third stanza. The Pioneers offense dominated the Bengals to earn the 25-19 final set victory.
