BROOKINGS, S.D. — The Denver Pioneers women's basketball team struggled and fell to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 90–44, on Thursday night in Brookings.
Coryn Watts paced the Pioneers with 14 points, shooting 5-for-12, and added four assists. Laia Monclova tacked on nine points and three rebounds, while Teodora Simoncevic added six points off the bench.
Denver took its only lead of the night early on, using back-to-back 3-pointers by Monclova to grab a brief 9–8 advantage. The Jackrabbits were quick to respond with balanced scoring and stout defense and held a 22–12 lead after the first quarter.
DU shot 34.8% from the field and 26.1% from behind the arc. The Pioneers battled but could not overcome the early deficit, as South Dakota State continued to build its momentum throughout the remainder of the game. Denver ultimately fell, 90–44.
