Pioneers will wear third jersey for the first time during the home opener and banner-raising night
DENVER – University of Denver hockey unveiled today its "Golden Age" third jersey that the program will wear for select games to start the 2026-27 campaign.
Denver will debut the limited-edition uniform on Friday night during its home opener against the University of Michigan, where the program will also raise its 2026 National Championship banner to the rafters of the Magness Arena. The Pioneers will don the jerseys for select games in the first half of the season before they go up for auction.
The gold-based sweater from Under Armour features the team's nickname "Pioneers" in red script font as the crest of the jersey. The script and the player's name and numbers give the jersey a classic look, and the lettering sits on the sweater with two-tone, zig-zag gold stitching for an old-school hockey feel.
Denver's arch is featured as a patch on top of the left shoulder while the team's 2026 championship logo is adorned on the right shoulder. Two thick stripes are featured prominently at the bottom of the jersey, below each number on the jersey's sleeves and on the gold-based socks.
The limited-time jerseys will only be available for fans through an online auction that begins in late November. All proceeds will support the hockey program.
The Pioneers own the NCAA record with 11 national championships after winning its most recent in 2026, and they have won six titles in the past 23 years, with their most recent coming in 2017, 2022, 2024 and 2026. Denver is the first program since Boston College (2008, 2010, 2012) to win three titles in a five-year span.
Counting the 2017 championship, Denver is the first school to win four titles in a 10-year span since the program did itself in the 1960s. DU's first Golden Age came early in the program's history with it winning national championships in 1958, 1960 and 1961 and back-to-back titles again in 1968 and 1969.
Denver's six national championships since 2000 are the most in college hockey (also 2004 and 2005) while its nine trips to the Frozen Four since 2004 are tied for first in the nation (Boston College and North Dakota).
DU has reached the national semifinals four times in the past five years and has made seven trips to the Frozen Four in the previous 10-held tournaments dating back to 2016. This is the third time in their history that the Pioneers have made the final weekend seven times in 10 years (also 1960-1969 and 1964-1973), and they are the only program to reach the national semifinals seven times in a decade during the current 16-team format of the NCAA Tournament that began in 2003.
UP NEXT: The No. 1 Pioneers begin a season-long, six-game homestand by hosting the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines on Friday at 7 p.m. MT to start a two-game series. The teams will conclude the weekend set on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT. Denver takes on Boston College on Oct. 23-24 for homecoming weekend before starting NCHC play against Omaha on Oct. 30-31.
TICKETS: Single-game tickets as well as mini plans and group packages for the DU hockey's championship-defense campaign in 2026-27 are on sale now. Click here for more information.
