
Pioneers Fall to San Diego in Three Sets

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Denver volleyball team fell to San Diego, 14-25, 16-25, 23-25, on Saturday at Jenny Craig Pavilion. The Pioneers move to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in West Coast Conference play.
LEADERS
Hailey Goebel led the Pioneers with seven kills, while Alicia Thibodeau added six and Kayla Patel contributed five.
Lily Van Hal paced the Pioneers with 12 assists, while Ilayda Eren added nine.
Madison Winkler led Denver with 13 digs, while Patel contributed seven.
NOTES
- Denver moves to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in its inaugural WCC season.
- The Pioneers recorded 27 kills, 24 assists, 27 digs and five total blocks, matching San Diego in blocks.
- Denver's 13 digs in the third set helped the Pioneers stay within striking distance late.
UP NEXT
The Pioneers will return home on Thursday, Oct. 8, hosting Pepperdine at 6 p.m. MT inside Hamilton Gymnasium.
