SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Denver men's basketball sophomore guard Carson Johnson has been named the Kwik Star Summit League Men's Basketball Peak Performer of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Johnson turned in a pair of 20-point performances on the road last week in Denver's first-ever road sweep of the North Dakota schools in Summit League play. On Thursday night, Johnson scored 22 and added a pair of assists in Denver's win over previously unbeaten North Dakota State. A couple of days later, Johnson added 22, three rebounds and seven assists in the Pioneers rout of North Dakota.
The Denver sophomore has scored 20+ in 14 different games this season, including six of the last seven. Johnson is tied for 10th in the country in 20+-point games this season (stathead). The Minnesota State Moorhead transfer leads the Pioneers at 19.5 points per game.
Last time out, Johnson moved into ninth in Denver's DI history in single-season points (506), 12th in single-season three-pointers (70) and 10th in single-season free-throws made (106).
