Denver Sweeps Final Summit League Weekly Awards

Junior Savanna Berry, sophomore Hamish McLellan and freshmen Isa Cardenas and Trip Gregory take home final weekly honors of the 2025-26 season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.  – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs swept the final Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.

On the men's side, sophomore Hamish McLellan and freshman Trip Gregory earned weekly honors, while junior Savanna Berry and Isa Cardenas brought home the men's awards.

McLellan received his fourth Summit League weekly award of the season on Tuesday after being a part of three impressive relays, finishing third in a 14-swimmer field in the 200 fly and winning the 13-swimmer 100 fly. The Denver sophomore's winning time of 47.09 in the men's 100 fly was 0.07 seconds off his Summit League leading personal best this season. McLellan's 1:49.17 when altitude adjusted down to 1:47.97 ranks second in the league this season behind teammate Gabe Jones.

Cardenas earned the first conference honor of her freshman campaign after winning the women's 100 back and 200 IM at the 2026 First Chance Invitational. The Denver freshman also swam in three relays in the Pioneers final tune-up before next week's Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships. Cardenas' time of 55.59 in the women's 100 back last weekend moved her into fifth in the Summit League this season in the stroke and distance.

Berry brought home her sixth Summit League weekly honor of the season, and the eighth of her career. In her final meet in El Pomar Natatorium, Berry edged the 13-diver field in the women's 3-meter with a score of 318.15. The performance was good for fourth in Denver's DI history in the women's 3-meter.

Gregory's honor is his third of his freshman campaign. The Denver freshman won the men's 3-meter against Wyoming on Friday with a score of 349.30. The tally was good enough for another NCAA Zone Cut in the event and moved Gregory into fifth in Denver's DI history on the board.
