DENVER – The University of Denver hockey program had all 15 returning players named to the 2025-26 NCHC Honor Roll and 13 Pioneers earn NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced on Wednesday.
To be eligible for the NCHC Honor Roll, formerly known as the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average or better, while having completed at least one full academic year at their current institution. Student-athletes that have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better were also named Distinguished Scholar-Athletes.
The NCHC will add freshmen and first-year transfers to the lists this summer after the academic year is completed. Denver has a 10-member freshmen class this season.
Overall, 113 players throughout the conference were honored and 83 earned Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition in the initial announcement by the league. Athletic success and playing time are not criteria for these awards.
DU's 15 players on the Honor Roll tied with Western Michigan for the second-most among all teams (St. Cloud State, 15), with
Kent Anderson, Cale Ashcroft, Garrett Brown, Boston Buckberger, Hagen Burrows, Kieran Cebrian, Jake Fisher, Paxton Geisel, Sam Harris, Rieger Lorenz, Tory Pitner, Eric Pohlkamp, James Reeder, Samu Salminen and
Alec Whipple all picking up accolades

Whipple all registered a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Seniors Anderson and Lorenz earned the distinction for each award in all four years with the program.
