TEMPE, Ariz. -- The University of Denver women's lacrosse team closed out its opening road trip with a 14-7 win over the Arizona State Sundevils on Sunday afternoon in Arizona.
Ryan Dineen and
Caroline Keil led the Pioneers' offense with four goals apiece.
Olivia Ripple added three goals and an assist.
Landry Grover grabbed four ground balls and caused four turnovers.
Carly Frohnapfel recorded four wins in the draw circle.
Lexi Gwaku made six saves in goal.
Denver struck quickly and often, outscoring the Sun Devils 6-0 in the first quarter and never letting Arizona State gain a foothold. The Pioneers built a double-digit lead by halftime and cruised to the win behind a balanced offensive effort.
Defensively, Denver limited Arizona State to 21 shots and held a 25-13 advantage in shots on goal. The Pioneers also dominated possession and ground balls en route to the 14-7 win.
