Denver Skiing Set For 2026 RMISA Championships

Pioneers get final tune-up before NCAA Championships

BOZEMAN, Mont./MIDWAY, Utah – The Denver Pioneers ski team gets set for the RMISA Championships this week with alpine competing at Bridger Bowl Ski Area in Montana and Nordic racing at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Utah.

While the disciplines are in different states, Montana State University is still the host of the 77th annual conference championship, which also doubles as the NCAA West Regional. Due to snow conditions at the original cross-country venue, Crosscut Mountain Sports Center, it was determined to relocate both the Nordic portion of the RMISA Championships and the next month's NCAA Championships—which were also supposed to be held in Bozeman—to Utah for the best conditions for the student-athletes.

There has also been an update to the alpine schedule this week because of upcoming weather in Montana. The RMISA Alpine Qualifier slalom—the last regular-season event—that was supposed to occur on Saturday will now start the competition on Thursday at Bridger Bowl.

The RMISA Championships begin in full on Friday with a second day of alpine slalom in Montana and the Nordic 7.5-kilometer classic interval start at Soldier Hollow. The meet wraps up on Saturday with the Nordic 20K freestyle mass start and alpine giant slalom races.

Denver's alpine squad raced earlier this week in Park City in an additional RMISA Alpine Qualifier and to conclude the Utah Invitational. Graduate student Sara Rask posted two podium finishes in women's alpine, including her DU skiing-record 19th individual victory on Monday. Freshman Cecilia Pizzinato also placed on the podium with a third-place result in Monday's GS.

The Pioneers' Nordic team last raced two weeks ago on home snow at the Denver Invitational on Feb. 7-8 in Frisco and Colorado Invitational on Feb. 13-14 in Steamboat Springs. DU competed at Soldier Hollow earlier this season on Jan. 24-25 for start of the Utah Invite and combined for six top-10 finishes in the four events.

Soldier Hollow and Utah Olympic Park in Park City will host the NCAA Championships next month on March 11-14.
