NEW YORK – University of Denver men's lacrosse sophomore goalie
Grayson Manning has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Manning has been near perfect through the first two games of the regular season, posting a 91.3% save percentage through his first 100 minutes of the season. In the season opener against Cleveland State on January 31, Manning made seven stops and didn't allow a goal in 40:16 of action. Last Saturday, the Denver sophomore stood tall again, making 14 stops against just two goals allowed in the Pioneers 10-2 win over Air Force.
The Victoria B.C., native has picked up right where he left off this summer, being named the U-20 World Championships Most Outstanding Player after making 15 saves in the title tilt that lifted Canada over the United States 6-5 in August in South Korea.
Monday's award is the second BIG EAST weekly award of his career.
UP NEXT: Denver will stay in the mountain time zone when it heads to Utah next weekend for its road opener. Opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m. MT, and it will be streamed on ESPN+.
