Cody Malawsky was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and redshirt junior defenseman
Russell Overly has been tabbed the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Malawsky tied a career-high with seven points on five goals and two helpers, shooting 5-for-7 to lead Denver to a 15-9 win over [RV/-] Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The junior's five goals also matched his career high. Malawsky's hat trick was second hat trick of the season and the seventh of his career. With the game tied at 6-6 in the early stages of the third quarter, Malawsky netted his third and fourth of the day 1:45 apart to kickstart a 5-1 Denver run to break the game open. The 2025 Minto Cup MVP had five of his seven points in the second half.
Overly picked up six ground balls on the other end of the field for the Pioneers, with all six securing a change in possession for the Pioneers. The Denver redshirt junior also added a pair of caused turnovers, his third multi-CT game this season.
UP NEXT: Denver will have 10 days off before traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Ohio State on March 12 at 5 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on B1G+. The Pioneers will return home the following Monday (March 16) to take on Syracuse at PBLS.
