DENVER -- The University of Denver women's lacrosse team opens Big East Conference play against UConn on Sunday at 12 p.m MT at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
The Pioneers are 12-1 all-time against the Huskies. UConn won its first game in the series, 14-13, in overtime on April 6, 2025 in Storrs.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
-Junior attacker
Olivia Ripple tied for the sixth-fastest Pioneer to reach the 100 goal milestone, doing so on March 13 in 48 games.
-She broke the single-game scoring record with 10 goals in the Pioneers' 23-10 victory over Marquette last season.
-Her 63 goals in 2025 are good for 5th most in a single season.
-The California native owns the record for most goals in a postseason game with 7 in the 20-9 victory over Georgetown in the Big East Semifinal game.
FREE POSITION FIREPOWER
-Eight different Pioneers have recorded at least one free position goal this season: Ripple, Keil, Thomsen-Marr, Dineen, Mutch, Bowers, Harris and Cho.
-Keil leads the nation with 1.25 free position goals per game and Thomsen-Marr ranks ninth in the country with a 0.750 free position percentage.
CLOSING IN ON THE CENTURY MARK
-Senior attacker
Ryan Dineen is 11 goals from the 100 goal career milestone in 70 career games.
-Ripple became the sixth-fastest Pioneer to reach the 100 goal milestone, doing so in 48 games.
NEW GOALIE-KEEPER
-
Lauren Spence joined the Pioneers this season as goalkeeper coach.
-Prior to joining the Pioneers, Spence was a three-year starting goalkeeper for Loyola and was a three-time IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Selection and two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American.
-Spence played alongside former Pioneer
Lauren Black with Team Canada at the 2022 World Games, posting a 5-0 record with 53 saves en-route to a gold medal performance.
A BALANCED OFFENSE
-The Pioneers rank 6th in the countryin scoring offense, averaging 15.75 goals per game.
-Denver has four different attackers in double-digit goals so far this season -
Olivia Ripple (32),
Caroline Keil (29),
Eva Thomsen-Marr (20), and
Ryan Dineen (17).
-The Crimson and Gold have had five or more goal scorers in every game this season.
-Ripple, Keil and Thomsen-Marr each have a pair of game-winning goals.
