DENVER – Freshman defensemen
Eric Jamieson has been named to the 2025-26 NCHC All-Rookie Team, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced on Monday.
The 6-foot-2, 204-pound blueliner has brought a physical edge to the Pioneers this season while also being an offensive contributor. Jamieson ranks second on the team and ninth in the conference with 49 blocked shots, and he blocked a career-high five shots on Jan. 30 against Minnesota Duluth. He leads the team and is seventh in the league with 45 penalty minutes.
Offensively, Jamieson has earned 16 points (7g/9a), and his seven goals on the year are the second-most by a rookie defenseman in the NCAA this season. With Jamieson,
Eric Pohlkamp (17) and
Boston Buckberger (8), the defensive trio makes Denver one of just three squads in the nation with three rear guards with six or more goals this season (Air Force and Clarkson). The Calgary, Alberta, native scored his first career game-winning goal on Nov. 7 at Western Michigan and owns a plus-11 rating while showing consistency by playing in all 37 games this season.
Before Jamieson's time as a Pioneer, he spent three-plus years with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League. He served as an alternate captain during the 2023-24 season and captained the squad the following year. He graduated from high school in 2023 from the Edge School, where he was also an alternate captain of the hockey team for his last two years with the squad in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Jamieson is the first Pioneer to be named to the NCHC All-Rookie team since forward
Miko Matikka and defenseman
Zeev Buium both picked up the honor in the 2023-24. Buium is playing for the NHL's Vancouver Canucks after starting the year with the Minnesota Wild, while Matikka currently skates for the AHL's Tucson Roadrunner.
Four players from North Dakota made the NCHC All-Rookie Team in forwards Cole Reschny and Will Zellers, defenseman Keaton Verhoeff and goaltender Jan Spunar. Miami forward David Deputy also made the conference's freshman squad.
