Denver Swimming and Diving Announces 2026-27 Captains

The Pioneers have named seven captains for the upcoming season

DENVER - The University of Denver men's and women's swimming program has named seven captains for its 2026-27 season, head coach Alicia Hicken-Franklin announced on Tuesday.

Sophomore Trip Gregory will captain the Denver divers in their first season under head diving coach Trevor Sisson.

Denver's women's swimmers are going to be captained by Genevieve Franklin, Darian Koler and Tenaya Winter, while the Denver men's leadership trio includes Quinn Collins, Hamish McLellan and Nico Morton.

Gregory was an All-Summit League honoree in two diving events last year, and finished in the top-30 at NCAA Zones on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Fresh off the 2026 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships this offseason, Franklin earned three top-six finishes in distance swims at last year's Summit League Championship, including a second-place finish in the mile in a time of 16:52.84.

Koler was an All-Summit League honoree in both backstroke events, taking third in the 100 back and winning the 200 back event title at the championships. The Denver senior turned in the ninth-best time in program history in the 100 back last season, peaking at 54.71.

Winter was a part of five relays that earned All-Summit League honors last season, and finished third in the 100 breast to earn another podium spot. The California native recorded the eighth-fastest time in program history in the 100 breast (1:02.24) in the 2025-26 campaign.

Collins earned two top-10 times in program history last season, recording the seventh-best time in the men's 100 back and the seventh-best time in the men's 200 back last season. The Illinois native was also a big part of the Pioneers CSCAA National Invitational Championship, swimming in four relays at the event.

McLellan earned All-Summit League honors in seven events and recorded three top-10 times in program history during his sophomore season. The Australian swimmer turned in the sixth-best time in program history in the men's 50 free, the seventh-best time in the men's 100 free and improved on his school record in the men's 100 fly. At the CSCAA NIC's, McLellan finished third in the 50 fly and second in the 100 fly.

Morton was an All-Summit League honoree in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 breast last season, winning the two medley races and finishing second in the 200 breast at the league championships. The Denver senior from Salt Lake also recorded three top-10 times in program history last season, making his mark with the seventh-best time in the 200 breast, the eighth-best time in the 200 IM and the third best time in the 400 IM.
