Johnson Earns Preseason Honors from Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook

The junior guard was one of five players named to the yearbook’s Preseason All-WCC Team
DENVER – University of Denver men's basketball junior guard Carson Johnson was one of five West Coast Conference men's basketball student-athletes named to the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook's Preseason All-WCC Team, the publication released.
The 2025-26 Summit League Men's Basketball Player of the Year joins the rest of the program in the move up to the West Coast Conference this season. Johnson averaged 20.1 points and 3.0 assists in 35.6 minutes per contest last season, helping the Pioneers to a four-place finish in the league standings. In Denver's record book, Johnson ranked fourth in all of Denver's Division I eras combined in scoring in a single season with 642 points (second in modern DI era).
Prior to his sophomore season in Denver, Johnson had his redshirt pulled midway through the season at Minnesota State Moorhead under now DU head coach Tim Bergstraser. Johnson went on to average 19.8 points in the Dragons final 23 games, becoming the first freshman in NSIC history to be named the conference tournament's MVP.
Johnson is one of two returners on the 2026-27 squad, being joined by fellow former MSUM Dragon and Denver Pioneer Shaun Wysocki.
