Biography

Former University of Denver men's soccer midfielder Brian Hoyt (Tempe, Ariz.) has been named the team's new volunteer assistant coach, first-year head coach Jamie Franks announced to complete his staff on Wednesday.

"Brian had an outstanding four-year career here at the University of Denver where he helped the program to new heights and exemplified how to excel both in the classroom and on the field," Franks said. "Being a captain last year, he demonstrated his leadership ability and I am confident that this will translate well into being a mentor for our current players. I know the players have the utmost respect for him both as a player and a person. He sees the game different than most and his opinion will be extremely valuable as we prepare for next fall. To be able to add someone to the staff that has played in our system is important because his view on things will add a different perspective as we continue to develop and evolve our style of play."

In his four-year career with the Pioneers, Hoyt had 71 CAPS, starting 37 of those matches. Hoyt tallied 37 career points on 13 goals and 11 assists, including a career-high five goals in his senior campaign.

"I am really excited about joining the staff for this upcoming year," Hoyt said. "It is an honor for me to join this great staff and be able to stay involved with the program. I am excited to start my next chapter and start working with the staff to get ready for next season."

Hoyt fills the void left by the promotion of 2014 volunteer assistant coach Levi Rossi to assistant coach in March.
