University of Denver Athletics

Purpose

The University of Denver Athletic Hall of Fame was founded to honor, pay tribute to and perpetuate the memory of those individuals who, either through participation, support or interest, have made outstanding contributions in the field of intercollegiate athletics and who have helped to bring recognition, honor, distinction and excellence to the University of Denver. 

Selection Process and Categories of Membership

The categories of membership are: athletes, athletic teams, coaches, administrators, support staff and any other persons who have made outstanding contributions to varsity athletics at the University of Denver.

Nominations for Membership in the Athletic Hall of Fame are sumitted by all supporters of the University of Denver Division of Athletics and Recreation (Alumni, Parents, Donors, Season Ticket Holders, Staff, etc.).  

A selection Committee made up of current DU Hall of Fame members and Division of Athletics and Recreation staff will vote on the finalist for induction.

Categories and Qualifications:

 Former Student-Athletes (Male and Female)    

1. Outstanding contribution to intercollegiate athletics at the University of Denver.
2. Recipient of at least two varsity letters or equivalent accomplishments as verified by the Department of Athletics.
3. Five years since last year of intercollegiate athletics eligibility.    

Former Coaches

1. Outstanding contributions to their sport program(s) at the University of Denver.           
1. Minimum of three years tenure in the Department of Athletics.        
3. Retirement, death or departure from the Department of Athletics of at least three years.

Former Athletes, Administrators and Support Staff

1. Outstanding contributions to intercollegiate athletics at the University of Denver.     
2. Minimum of five years tenure in the Department of Athletics. 
3. Retirement, death or departure from the Department of Athletics of at least three years.

Special Category for Teams

Eligibility for teams for induction to the Athletic Hall of Fame shall be based on outstanding accomplishments at the conference or independent level of competition. An athletics' team shall be considered as one inductee and the induction of a team shall not prohibit the separate induction of one or more members of an inducted team. For teams to be eligible to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, five years must have passed since the last year of competition.

Special Category for Individuals

Eligibility for individuals who have brought distinction and honor to the University of Denver shall be eligible for induction to the Athletic Hall of Fame. Special achievements should be based on significant contributions to the ideal of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Denver and involvement and support of the intercollegiate athletics program.
