Description:
The University of Denver Sports Performance Fellowship provides candidates the opportunity to be part-time members of the staff for an entire academic year (September 1st – June 1st). Daily responsibilities are split between two fellows, with one fellow required to be present for morning hours and one fellow required for afternoon hours.
Responsibilities include direct oversight of 4 teams (2 for each fellow) and main assistance for larger teams, including Men’s Hockey, M/W Lacrosse, M/W Swimming, M/W Basketball, etc. Fellows will be required to meet with full time staff members on a weekly/bi-weekly basis for programming reviews, coaching development, and overall mentorship.
Additional opportunities include the direct use of all available technology for athlete development and data management (Gym Aware, VALD Force Plate/Force Deck Systems & Catapult). Fellows will have the opportunity to gain experience coaching at the high school level through partnerships with local programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in exercise science or a related field.
- 2 internships at the Division 1 level or 2 years of related experience at the Division 1 level.
- Current CSCS or SCCC Certification.
The hiring period for the fellowship occurs annually in May-June. The application process includes submission of a resume, 3 professional references and an interview with the Director of Sports Performance, Matt Shaw.
