Raman Sposato

Raman Sposato

Sposato enters his second season as assistant coach for the Pioneers in 2020-21.

In his first year as an assistant under head coach Rodney Billups, Sposato immediately paid dividends by helping reshape a culture and environment that had a positive impact on the program.

Sposato brought his pro knowledge and skill development to Denver and had an instant impact with the players.

He played a major role in the development on freshman big man Robert Jones, who came into the program as a raw three-star recruit, but was averaging double figures by postseason play and showed signs of a bright future at DU.

He played a role in the growth of senior Ade Murkey, resulting in a second team All-Summit League selection. The senior had one of the more productive seasons in recent memory, averaging a team-leading 18.6 points per game, the highest by a DU player since former teammate Yemi Nicholson posted a Denver DI record 19.9 during the 2005-06 campaign.

He  joined Denver after spending three seasons at Tulane as an assistant coach under famed coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. While with the Green Wave, he was responsible for practice planning, skill development, scouting, game preparation and recruiting efforts.

Prior to his time at Tulane, Sposato spent the 2015-16 year as a regional scout for the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets after serving as an assistant coach for the 2015 Developmental League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors. Before that, Sposato spent eight seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, helping serve as a player development coach. He began working the league in 2003 for the Portland Trail Blazers as a video coordinator.
