Joe Howe

Joe Howe enters his second season as the Director of Hockey Operations during the 2018-2019 season after being named to the position on Aug. 9, 2017. Prior to being named Director of Hockey Operations, Howe served two seasons as the program’s Volunteer Coach. 

While on staff, Howe has helped the Pioneers to the 2017 National Championship, two (2) Frozen Four appearances, three (3) NCAA tournament appearances, a National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Frozen Faceoff title and an NCHC regular-season title.

As a player, Howe played four (4) seasons with the Colorado College Tigers, appearing in 119 games and posting a 54-50-10 record with a 2.97 goals against average and .905 save percentage. The Plymouth, Minn. Native was a three-time WCHA All-Academic Team honoree and a member of the WHCA Rookie Team during the 2009-2010 season. Prior to joining the Tigers, Howe played two (2) seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he logged a 30-18-3 record with a 2.96 GAA and .893 SV%.

Howe’s father, Richard, and uncles, Bob and Dave, played for Notre Dame in the 1970s, while his cousin, Mike, played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2004-2008 prior to embarking on a professional career.
