AWARDS:
2024-25 Summit League Freshman of the Year, Denver’s fifth conference specialty award in Denver’s Division I history, and Denver’s first since Chris Udofia was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year in 2013-14.

2024-25 (FRESHMAN):
Played in all 32 games for the Pioneers in his rookie season, starting 10 of them…Averaged 12.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 25.7 minutes of action per game…Added a team-high 86 assists against just 62 turnovers and earned 30 steals and eight blocked shots…Scored 405 points in his freshman season, the most by any true freshman in Denver’s DI history…Finished in double figures in 21 of Denver’s 32 games…15+ points in 12 games and four 20+ point games…Scored 15 off the bench in his collegiate debut at Stanford…Fifth Pio to score 15+ points off the bench in a season opener in DI era…Assisted on Abdulai Fanta Kabba’s game-winning dunk with 1.1 seconds left at Oral Roberts on January 23…Scored a season-high 27 in Denver’s overtime loss at North Dakota State on February 15…Finished in double figures in five-straight games twice in the campaign.

BEFORE DENVER: 
Second team All-Conference selection in 2022…2023 All-Hoopstate Conference First Team…Hoopseen Top-5 point guards in his last year of AAU.  

PERSONAL: 
Chose the University of Denver because it felt so much like home…Hopes to pursue a degree in sports management.

"Sebastian Akins is a pure point guard and floor general. He is a tremendous facilitator and passer, has a great understanding of the game and makes players around him better.  He reads defenses so well and plays the game with a great pace, while never getting sped up and always looking in control. In addition to his playmaking skills, he can get to the basket and is an excellent three-point shooter. He embodies our culture and will be a great fit at DU and in our basketball program."
