The University of Denver men’s soccer program has named former Regis University men’s soccer assistant coach Brandyn Bumpas its goalkeeper coach ahead of the 2021 season, head coach Jamie Franks announced on August 12, 2021. Bumpas completed his second season with the program in 2022.
“We’re excited to welcome Brandyn to our staff,” Franks said. “He is a high-character guy that will fit in perfectly with the culture of our program. A high-level goalkeeper himself, Brandyn brings a lot of coaching background and experience to that position, something we’ve not had on our staff in the last couple of years.”
Before Denver:
Bumpas spent the last two years at Regis University as its goalkeepers coach. He is currently a United Soccer Coaches (USC) Level II goalkeeping coach, and has nearly 10 years of experience in soccer and athletic performance training at both the high school and collegiate level.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank the staff for allowing me to be a part of such a great culture,” Bumpas said. “It's been a goal of mine to be able to coach at DU and I am excited to be a part of what I believe is going to be something special. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to my coaching development to this point and I cannot wait to continue that growth at this top level school and program!”
In 2016, Bumpas served as the assistant director of goalkeeping for Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer. Bumpas was also involved with Core Soccer Academy, Colorado West Select, Colorado Edge Soccer Club, Colorado Mesa and Metro State University in his previous experience.
Playing Career:
Bumpas was a high school All-America selection and an All-Colorado selection at Denver’s Mullen High School. A member of the U.S. U-18 National Team pool, Bumpas spent the 2005 season in Florida in the U.S. Soccer residency program. Bumpas later went on to play for the U-20 national team.
He signed with North Carolina State out of high school, but finished his career with Colorado Mesa that included a trip to the Division II semifinals, where he went 7-1 with a 0.63 goals against average.
