Hurter joined the Pioneers for his first season in 2018-19.
Don Hurter is now the director of golf and instruction at the Quarry Golf Club at La Quinta in Palm Springs, California. He is in this new position after serving almost 25 years as director of instruction at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado. As a junior, Don won the USGA Boys Junior Amateur in 1978 in Delaware and was an All-American Golfer at the University of New Mexico. He is currently a top 100 PGA Teaching Professional instructor and works with our players on their routines, swings, and short game. “We are truly lucky to add Don to our staff as he is one of the best technical instructors in the country. He has worked with our players and team for almost 15 years now and we love his passion and energy for the University of Denver and our women’s golf program”
Hurter was on the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 President’s Council on Growing the Game. He is a PGA teaching professional at Castle Pines Golf Club, home of the PGA International golf tournament in the 1990s-2000s.

Hurter played college golf at University of New Mexico from 1980-84. The Hawaii native earned WAC All-Conference and All-America honors in 1984.
