Hogue returned to Denver for the 2018 season. In 2011 and 2012, he was an assistant coach for the Pioneers before spending five seasons (2013-2017) at the University of Georgia also as an assistant coach.

In 2018, Hogue was the team's primary coach on vault and floor and was named North Central Region co-Assistant Coach of the Year, along with associate head coach Linas Gaveika. He helped lead Maddie Karr to a near-perfect 9.975 on vault, which tied the seventh-highest score in program history. DU achieved a program-high national ranking on vault of No. 2 and spent all but two weeks ranked inside the top 10 (while never being ranked below No. 11 on the event). On floor, the team was ranked inside the top 10 for six weeks and held a season high ranking of No. 4.

Twice Hogue has been named an NACGC/W regional co-Assistant Coach of the Year, first with Denver in 2012 and then again with Georgia in 2014.

He has helped coach a total of seven gymnasts to a combined 18 All-American honors between his time at Denver and Georgia, as well as an individual national champion on bars (UGA's Brittany Rogers in 2016).

In 2011 and 2012, Hogue coached Denver's vault and bars squads. Each year, his team finished ranked inside the top 20 in the nation on both events, and at least one Pioneer finished the season nationally-ranked on vault.

Hogue's vault squad tied what was then a program record on vault (49.425) on March 5 on the road at Air Force. Under his leadership, the team also tied what was the third-best vault mark in program history (49.400) on February 4, 2011, against Ohio State.

Prior to joining DU's coaching staff for the 2011 season, Hogue spent more than 20 years as a professional member of USA Gymnastics. He spent the majority of his career at Orlando Metro Gymnastics, as well as three years at Broadway Gymnastics in Oviedo, Fla.

Hogue holds a bachelor's degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in engineering and physics, and a minor in mathematics from the University of Central Florida (1997), as well as an associate of arts degree from Valencia Community College (1993).

Hogue and his wife Lisa have two sons, Pierce and Colin.
