Former Pioneer Ammar Hassan has joined the University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving program as its volunteer diving assistant ahead of the 2022-23 season.Â

2022 National Championships:
18th in NCAA Zone E Championships (586.90)
2022 Summit League Championship:
Won the 1-meter (384.40) dive and the 3-meter dive (348.55) setting a new league record in both events.
As a Senior (Colorado Mesa – 2020-21):
Won the Division II Championship in the 1-meter and 3-meter for the third-consecutive year, scoring 560.95 and 568.50, respectively…Also swept the RMAC Championships and set a DII record in the 3-meter with a score of 597.00.

As a Junior (Colorado Mesa - 2019-20):Â
Dove in eight meets, including the RMAC and NCAA National Championships… Was well on his way to defending his national titles before the COVID-19 pandemic took away those opportunities… Scored 528.30 points in the 1-meter preliminaries at the national meet, which were completed just before the ultimate cancelation of the national championships… Had more than a 63-point lead after the preliminaries… Had also led all divers in the pre-championship qualification meet on both the 1 and 3-meter boards… Tallied 338.25 points on six dives off the 3-meter after scoring 316.25 on the 1-meter… Was named as CSCAA First Team All-American on both boards… Had earlier been named as the RMAC Diver of the Year and as the RMAC Diver of the Meet… Swept the conference crowns scoring a season-high 597.00 points in the 3-meter and 562.80 points on the 1-meter… Broke his own school-record on the 1-meter at the Mines dual on Jan. 10, scoring 623.17 points over 11 dives… Also set a new Maverick record for six dives scoring 385.50 points on his optional efforts…. Had a season-best 6-div, 3-meter score of 352.60 against BYU… Was named as RMAC Diver of the Week three times… Won at every meet he entered, finishing second in an event just once to teammate Noah Macomber at the Denver dual on Oct. 12... Named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America team.
International (2019):Â
Represented his homeland of Egypt at the second straight FINA World Championships in July in Gwangju, South Korea… Finished 39th on the 1-meter springboard with 253.65 points on six dives… Had teamed with Youssef Ezzat for a 22nd place finish in the 3-meter synchronized event… The duo scored 294.63 points… They had finished 10th with 320.67 points at the FINA Diving Grand Prix event in April in Mission Viejo, California… Has finished 32nd in the 3-meter individual event at that meet with 300.50 points… Had qualified for those opportunities with strong finishes at the Egyptian National Championships, which were held in December, 2018 in the capital city of Cairo.

As a Sophomore (Colorado Mesa - 2018-19):
Competed in eight meets in his first full season as a Maverick… Dominated the NCAA Division II National Championships for the second straight year as he repeated as the NCAA Division II National Champion on both the 1 and 3-meter boards… Was again named as CSCAA Division II Diver of the Year... Scored 581.40 points on the 1-meter and 593.10 on the 3-meter… Won the 1-meter by 29.3 points as the first of three Mavericks in the 8-man final… Won the 3-meter by 32.2 points over RMAC rival Otto Lehtonen of Oklahoma Baptist… Had shared RMAC Diver of the Year honors with Lehtonen… Was also tabbed as the RMAC Diver of the Meet after scoring a diving-high 37 team points to help the Mavericks win the team title… Won the 1-meter conference crown with 589.80 points, his third while finishing second to teammate Noah Macomber with 597.80 on the 3-meter… That score was more than 30 points higher than his RMAC Championship record tally from the year before… His 1-meter score broke what had been the oldest conference record on the books by more than 21 points… Had set both the 6 and 11-dive school-records while tallying a national-leading 1-meter score of 599.95 points to win the A3 Performance Invitational in November… Had a 6-dive school-record score of 384.85 during that meet… Also won the 3-meter event with 583.10 points at that meet… Won the RMAC Diver of the Week award on all four occasions it was awarded throughout the season… Began the 2019 calendar year by winning both events to lead the Mavs to a diving dual win over Division I Denver on Jan. 11… Also won both events in a Oct. 18 dual at BYU and at the Intermountain Shootout on Oct. 5-6.
As a Redshirt Freshman (Colorado Mesa - 2018):Â
Enrolled at CMU for the 2018 spring semester... Made an immediate impact sweeping both the 1 and 3-meter titles at both the NCAA Division II and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships... Became the program's first and so far only individual national champion when he won the 1-meter with 564.30 points on Mar. 15... Came back two days later to win the 3-meter title with an NCAA Championship and CMU record of 624.80 points... Earned CSCAAÂ Men's Diver of the Year accolades while becoming the first NCAA Division II diver to sweep both boards since 2012... Had won the RMACÂ titles in February with school-record scores of 574.20 (1m) and 565.50 (3m)... The 3-meter score also set a new RMAC record... Was named as the RMACÂ Diver of the Meet... Also set new school-records of 413.90 (3m) and 364.30 (1m) for the six optional dives at the NCAA Championships.
Before Colorado Mesa:Â
Represented his native land of Egypt at the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary… Finished 45th in the preliminaries of the 1-meter springboard with a score of 260.65 points on July 14… Took 46th on the 3-meter board five days later, tallying 293.70 points… Placed second on the 1-meter and third on the 3-meter at the 2017 Egyptian National Championships... Coached by Zakria Eldaw... Was the best diver in Egypt for three straight years... Graduated from El Narya Language School in 2015 before attending Misr University for Science and Technology.
