Makenna Jones enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Denver women's tennis program in 2026-27.
Prior to Denver
Professional Player, WTA Tour (2021-25)- Achieved career high WTA rankings of No. 107 in doubles (July 2023) and No. 236 in singles (October 2023)
- Played doubles main draw at 2021 and 2023 US Open, and 2023 Wimbledon
- Won main-draw doubles matches at 2022 Citi Open (Washington, D.C.) and 2025 BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells)
- Won 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Doubles national championship (with partner Elizabeth Scotty)
- Was a four-time ITA All-American and three-time All-ACC Team selection
- Named to 2021 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team
- Named 2018 ACC Championship Most Valuable Player
- Member of UNC teams that won three ITA National Indoor Championships (2018, 2020 and 2021) and four ACC Championships (2017-19 and 2021)
- Achieved career-high ITA national rankings of No. 1 in doubles and No. 2 in singles
- Accomplished career-best final national rankings of No. 1 in doubles (2021) and No. 4 in singles (2018)
- Ranks near top of UNC record book with 115 singles wins (115-35 career record) and 111 doubles wins
