Brandon Macneill

Brandon Macneill was named Associate Vice Chancellor for External Affairs in 2017 and elevated to Deputy AD in 2020.  His focus is in on capital and special projects, advancement, and the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch.   
 
Macneill acts as the primary sport supervisor for men’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s skiing.  Additionally, Macneill is a member of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Committee and will represent the West region through 2023.

Prior to his arrival in the Mile High City, Macneill served as the Executive Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Tulane University, a New Orleans campus he had worked at since 2008. While at Tulane, Macneill had oversight of all external areas of the department and played a major role in fundraising for $125 million of new/upgraded facilities. During his time at Tulane, the athletics department set new school records in annual giving, ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and licensing. Macneill also taught two courses per semester in sports marketing and business management and had oversight of men’s basketball and men’s and women’s track & field. 

In the lead-up to his role at Tulane, Macneill worked for five years as the Associate Director of Athletics for Administration and Strategic Planning at the University of Kansas. At KU, Macneill spearheaded the department's five-year strategic plan - "Unparalleled Excellence" - and played a key role in the conception and implementation of the Priority Points system which more than doubled the department's annual fundraising.  

Macneill's first role in development came at Princeton University, a position he took in 2001 after marketing stints at Steinberg & Moorad (Hawai'i), Dartmouth and UConn. Macneill earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Tulane in 1993 before earning his Master of Education in Sports Management in 1997.  

Macneill resides in Denver, with his wife Alison, an attorney and former student-athlete at Yale University, and their son Watson.
