Joshua Boone serves as Deputy Athletic Director for Strategy & CFO at the University of Denver, where he functions as the operational and financial backbone of the athletics division. In this role, he drives enterprise-wide strategy, oversees all core business functions, and builds the infrastructure that allows 18 varsity programs to compete and thrive at the highest level.
Since joining the Pioneers in 2019, Boone has expanded his impact well beyond traditional finance, leading initiatives spanning budget development and forecasting, contract negotiation, risk management, gender equity compliance, human resources, IT operations, and external partnership management. He spearheaded the launch of Women's Triathlon as DU's 18th varsity sport, led a multi-phase apparel transition across three brand partnerships (Adidas, New Balance, and Under Armour), and most recently launched the division's Revenue Share and Name, Image, and Likeness program, positioning DU Athletics at the forefront of the evolving collegiate athletics landscape.
Prior to Denver, Boone spent seven years at the University of Miami, rising to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration, where he provided oversight across sport administration, financial operations, and ACC compliance, including serving as secondary sport administrator for Football. Before Miami, he spent nearly a decade in athletic business operations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, building the operational foundation that has defined his career.
Boone holds an EdD in Higher Education from the University of Denver (2026), an MBA from Elon University, a Master's in Athletic Administration from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor's in Athletic Training from Elon University. A graduate of the NCAA Pathways Program and the Sports Management Institute, he was recently named to Silver Waves Media's Top 100 Rising ADs / Future ADs, a national recognition honoring next-generation leaders shaping the future of collegiate athletics.
An Eagle Scout and lifelong servant-leader, Josh resides in Denver with his wife Emily, a fundraiser at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business, and their two children, Mackenzie and Noah.
