LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Marijana Bego led all players with 17 kills and a .412 hitting percentage to lead Arkansas-Little Rock to a 3-0 sweep (30-28, 30-24, 30-25) of Denver in Sun Belt Conference volleyball action Saturday night at Trojan Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 9-10 and 4-5 in the Sun Belt, while UALR improves to 8-8, 5-4.

Junior outside hitter Lulu Sewell (Gardnerville, Nev. / Douglas HS) led the Pioneers with 12 kills, while sophomore right-side hitter Olympia Hughes (Casper, Wyo. / Natrona County HS) hit .357.

The Trojans closed out a close first game at 30-28 despite Denver hitting at a .273 clip, and although Denver hit a scalding .400 in the third and final game, UALR nailed 21 kills and hit .383 to close out the match.

"When it came down to crunch time, we weren't able to make the big plays," said head coach Beth Kuwata. "(Friday) night (at Arkansas State, a 3-0 Denver win) we were able to bounce right back after losing a point, tonight, we couldn't dig anything."

The Pioneers return home to start a three-match homestand on Tuesday night against No. 8 Colorado State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium.
