AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Delavane Diaz slammed 22 kills to lead the Air Force Academy volleyball team to a 3-1 (32-30, 19-30, 30-25, 30-27) win over the University of Denver Tuesday night. With the win, the Falcons post just their second win of the season (2-17), while the Pioneers fall to 10-13.

Senior outside hitter Kellie Savage (Arvada, Colo. / Arvada West HS) had 16 kills to lead Denver, which lost to the Falcons for just the second time in the six matches of the series. Freshman Mary England (Castle Rock, Colo. / Chaparral HS) added 13 kills, eight digs and four blocks, and sophomore Jenn Karas (Granby, Colo. / Middle Park HS), in her first extended playing time since returning from an ankle injury, hit .412 with 10 kills and nine digs.

"Air Force out-worked us on the defensive end," said head coach Beth Kuwata. "They just waited for us to make the error. They played harder than we did, and that's the difference."

The Falcons hit .266 for the match, yet in the three games they won, Air Force controlled the match offensively, hitting a whopping .424.

The Pioneers return to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend, traveling to face New Orleans on Friday night and South Alabama on Saturday night. Both matches start at 7 p.m. CST.
