DENVER -The University of Denver men's tennis team defeated Northern Iowa 4-3 while the women's team lost to New Mexico State 2-5 Friday.
Competing at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, the Pioneer men (4-0) won the top three singles matches and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the match. Boris Turkic improved to 15-3 on the season with a 7-6, (5), 6-4 won over Northern Iowa's Harry Walsh. Tomasz Wawrzyniak defeated Zane Krog (6-1, 6-4) to earn a victory at No. 2 singles. Turkic and Wawrzyniak teamed to win No. 1 doubles, defeating Walsh and Khambula Msiska.
Martina Pospisilova won No. 1 singles by defeating Elke Blodau (6-2, 6-3) and then teamed with Dita Kochloffelova to win No. 1 doubles (8-3) to earn the Denver women's two victories. The Pioneer women fall to 2-6, 0-1 on the season.
