DENVER -- University of Denver women's golfer Christine Anast (Littleton, Colo./Heritage H.S.) was named the Sun Belt Conference's women's golfer of the week Thursday, assistant commissioner Judy Willson announced.
She won the award by finishing alone in second place at the Colby Classic in Santa Clara, Calif. on Tuesday, firing rounds of 75-75--150 to finish five strokes behind individual medallist Elizabeth Allen of Cal State Northridge. The second-place showing tied her career highest finish she set just last month at the Mountain View Classic in Tucson, Ariz. She led the field in birdies (6) and in par-5 scoring at 2-under for the tournament. She was also second in par-4 scoring at eight-over par and was tied for fourth in the field with 20 pars.
It is the first such award for a University of Denver women's golfer.
