DENVER - The University of Denver volleyball team had just two players record at least 10 kills and New Mexico State's Trinia Cuseo had a match-high 16 kills and no attack errors as the Aggies swept the Pioneers 3-0 (31-33, 24-30, 17-30) Friday night in Hamilton Gymnasium. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 3-17 on the season, 1-8 in conference play. West Division leading New Mexico State improves to 19-5, 9-1.

The best game of the match for Denver was the first, as the Pioneers attacked on a match-high .227 hitting percentage in the game and nearly came up with the win before losing, 33-31. Junior Andrea Baron (West Vancouver, B.C.) recorded six kills in the first game and led the Pioneers in the match with 14. Junior Olympia Hughes (Casper, Wyo.) also had 12 to lead Denver.

"The first game was great, that's what volleyball is all about," head coach Beth Kuwata said. "If we had those types of games all year long I would be content. In the first game, our middles were more involved but it got tougher for them as the match wore on. We had good balance in the first game and if we have that we're successful but we just didn't have it in the other two games."

The Pioneers hurt themselves on the serve, committing seven service errors and just one ace in the match. Denver did have more digs than the Aggies by a 43-40 margin.

Denver is next in action tomorrow night when they take on Arkansas-Little Rock in Hamilton Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
