The University of Denver men's tennis team fell to Illinois State, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Las Cruces, N.M.
Denver began the contest with three doubles matches, but suffered a 3-0 sweep to the Redbirds. The Pioneer duo of Trevor Young and Urban Lubjic battled to an 8-8 tie in the opening set but lost the tie-break 7-5. Denver's No. 2 doubles team rallied late in its match but came up short, losing 9-7.
No. 1 singles player Magnus Ramfelt was victorious in the opening set of his bout, 6-4 but could not close the door in the second and fell 4-6 in consecutive sets to lose the match. The Redbirds dominated the remainder of the singles contests and denied a Denver a set in the final five matches.
Denver will close out the weekend tomorrow (Feb. 23) against Arkansas State in Las Cruces, N.M.
