Men's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision at BYU

The University of Denver men's tennis team lost its second-straight match, falling to Brigham Young, 6-1, Saturday (Mar. 9).

The Pioneers lost all three doubles matches before earning their lone victory of the day at singles. On the first singles court, senior Magnus Ramfelt defeated Carlos Lozano, 7-5, 6-7, 7-6 for the Pioneers only win.

Denver did come close on courts two, four and six, however. At No. 2 singles, Sophomore Urban Ljubic took BYU's Erik Nyman to three sets before eventually falling, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, while sophomore Hans Peter Gaber also took his opponent to three sets on the fourth court. Gaber eventually lost to Jeff Olsen, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. At No. 6 singles, senior Trevor Young played Jose Luis Lechuga close, only to fall in two sets, 7-6 and 6-3.

Denver will return to action Mar. 17-19 in California during spring break. The Pioneers will face UC-Riverside (Mar. 17), Loyola Marymount (Mar. 18) and Dartmouth (Mar. 19) during their three day trip to the west coast.
