The University of Denver men's tennis team lost to Montana State, 4-3, Friday night (Mar. 1). Due to inclement weather the match was moved indoors to Meadow Creek Racquet Club in Lakewood.

The Pioneers opened the match taking two of the three on the doubles courts to earn the first point. On the first court, senior Trevor Young and sophomore Urban Ljubic defeated MSU's Thijs Goossens and B.J. Hauck, 8-6. Seniors Magnus Ramfelt and Jay Patel defeated the Bobcats' tandem of Jason Swanson and Braden Olson, 8-2, to secure the doubles point.

Denver won just two singles matches, however, in falling 4-3 to Montana State. Sophomore Hans Peter Gaber topped Olson at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3, while Young beat Swanson on court six, 6-4, 6-3. All tied at 3-3, the match came down to the battle on the first court as Ramfelt and Goossens were the final pair to finish. Ramflet dropped the first set, 7-6, before battling back to force a third set by taking the second, 6-4. Goossens narrowly defeated Ramfelt, 7-6, in the final set, giving the Bobcats the match win.

The Pioneers (2-6) will remain home for a match against Boston College Tuesday (Mar. 5). The match is scheduled to be played at Stapelton Tennis Pavilion on the Denver campus at 1 p.m., but could be moved indoors in case of poor weather.
