The University of Denver men's tennis team handed Boston University a 7-0 defeat Tuesday (Mar. 5). The match was scheduled to be played at Denver's Stapelton Tennis Pavilion, but moved indoors to the Air Force Academy due to inclement weather.
The Pioneers started the match on the doubles courts, winning two of three. Following a Denver loss on the first court, seniors Magnus Ramfelt and Jay Patel teamed up at No. 2 doubles to defeat BU's Jason Vinoles and John Paul Debbink, 8-1. Denver earned the doubles point as sophomore Hans Peter Gaber and freshman Jason Tan topped Joshua Holbrook and Noel Moossa, 8-4.
At singles, the Pioneers won all six matches in straight sets to earn the sweep. At No. 1 singles, Ramfelt pushed his record to 13-7 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Geoffery Wagner. Patel improved to a team-best 14-3 on the year, defeating Adam Siegel, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. On the fourth court, Gaber improved to 13-7 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Debbink.
Denver (4-6) will hit the road for two matches in the state of Utah. The Pioneers will take on the University of Utah in Salt Lake City Friday (Mar. 8) at 5 p.m., before traveling to Provo for a match against Brigham Young Saturday (Mar. 9) at 6 p.m.
