Men's Tennis Falls at Utah, 6-1

The University of Denver men's tennis team lost to the University of Utah, 6-1, Friday (Mar. 8). The loss drops the Pioneers to 3-7 on the season.

At No. 3 doubles, Denver's pair of sophomore Hans Peter Gaber and freshman Jason Tan defeated the Utes' Corrie Sheepers and Tobias Torgberg, 9-8. The Pioneers lost at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, however, losing the doubles point. Seniors Magnus Ramfelt and Jay Patel lost for the first time this season in doubles, falling to Tyler Poulson and Daniel Carlsson, 8-4 on the second court. The tandem fell to 3-1 on the year.

Sophomore Urban Ljubic was the only Pioneer to notch a victory at singles. Ljubic topped Sheepers (2-6, 6-1, 6-1) at No. 2 singles, but Denver was unable to take another singles match, en route to the 6-1 loss.

Denver will travel to Brigham Young for a 6 p.m. match with the Cougars Saturday (Mar. 9).
