LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The University of Denver volleyball team was held to season-lows in both kills and attack percentage and suffered a 3-0 (28-30, 25-30, 18-30) defeat at Arkansas-Little Rock Sunday afternoon, the Pioneers' fourth loss in its last five games. Denver drops to 15-11 overall on the season, 6-5 in the Sun Belt Conference. UALR improves to 16-9, 7-4.

The first game was Denver's best chance to get a win in the match, as the Pioneers recorded a match-high .184 attack percentage and had a 15-14 kill advantage but fell 30-28.

In the second game the Pioneers had just 10 kills and a .034 attack percentage in a 30-25 loss and were even worse in the third game, recording just nine kills and a .026 attack percentage in a 30-18 setback.

UALR held a 13-8 block advantage and 40 digs to Denver's 27. Senior Andrea Baron (West Vancouver, B.C.) led the Pioneers with 11 kills and was the lone Denver player to record double digits in kills in the match. UALR's Ivana Vracar had a match-high 18 kills and Larisa Durmisevic recorded a .524 attack percentage (13 kills, 2 errors, 21 attacks) to lead the Trojans.

"Today we came out flat and had a hard time getting any rythym going," head coach Beth Kuwata said. "Our middle hitters did a pretty decent job but we just weren't able to get them the ball and that was the case for pretty much the entire match. This match was won and lost on defense and they were better than were today. There's still a lot of volleyball to be played, we just have to be ready for the next two and a half weeks."

Denver is next in action next Friday when it takes on North Texas in a key SBC matchup at 7 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium.
