Denver dominated throughout the match, holding ULL to just a .064 attack percentage and 31 kills, the second-fewest the Pioneers have allowed in a match all season. Denver also ended its longest losing streak of the season at three matches.
Three Pioneers recorded double digits in kills, led by senior Andrea Baron's (West Vancouver, B.C.) match-high 12. Fellow senior Olympia Hughes (Casper, Wyo.) had 11 and freshman Lisa Hunter (St. Louis, Mo.) chipped in 10 for Denver.
"For us this was an important win," head coach Beth Kuwata said. "We really had something to play for today and came out and played a solid match. We started out kind of shaky but improved as the match went on. That was something we discussed before the match, improving as the match went on."
Denver is next in action on Tuesday when it takes on No. 15 Colorado State at 7 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium.
